Mama

Today I was going to write a post sharing all these make-your-own toys ideas I've found and Whit's enjoyed, along with a few pics of him playing with said toys.

But forget that.

Last night, he said "mama".

Well, I'm pretty sure he did. I was eating supper and Whit was practicing his crawling technique when out of the blue I hear something that very well could have been "mama". I definitely heard the a's, but I'm not positive what was in front of them, but I'm going to say it was "mama" ;-)

Oh and let me tell you I melted into a puddle of tears and sappy, motherly love. I hugged him and tried to get him to say it again. All he would do is make the "m" shape with his mouth and his pterodactyl noise. It totally made this past week, with the whines, pooptastrophes, late nights, and Irish tempers, worth it.

sigh... "mama"!

And it makes today even sweeter! I had seen on someone's blog about a Mommy & Me link up at Everyday Love and wanted in on it. The world needs more pictures of babies AND their mamas!

And just to remind us how quickly children grow, he already cut his second tooth... six hours after I took this picture!

Whit's latest achievement...mobility!

We had a great Christmas and I hope everyone else did too!

Santa was very good to us, not that our little guy noticed. He's learned something new: scooting.

Just ignore that post-present-opening mess and you'll see... We had put him on his activity mat and he managed to scoot all over the living room rug. Silly boy!

We would put him back and he'd start all over again. He did about three laps at our house and three more at the in-laws. He's obsessed with scooting! The past three nights he's had trouble sleeping because he wants so badly to practice his new skill. So we just put him on the floor and let him go, occasionally turning him around so he doesn't hit his head on the hardwoods.

Maybe after he's mastered this he'll care about his presents!

Feeding Time!

The past couple of days we've tried introducing Whit to rice cereal and it's been kind of so-so. The first day he was majorly excited...

But quickly decided we were crazy... (the doctor warned me about that)

So later that night when Ben and I were eating some snacks, Whit was watching us intently and trying to copy our moves.

The next day... voila! The boy had figured it out and was loving it!

Did I mention I think my kid's a genius? ;-)

Oh my gosh!

Whit laughed! A real, hearty chuckle with a couple of giggles! And what made him laugh? Me nagging his father. ::face palm::

But it was so cute!

So by the way...

...when you teach your kids something, make sure it's something you want to hear a thousand times a day! The other day I taught Whit how to blow raspberries and he's been entranced with his new trick. Ben got him out of bed this morning and he was covered in drool from his practicing! It's so cute how proud and happy he looks after he's done it.

Uh oh

Someone's finding a new mode of transportation.

This is the second time I have found him like this after leaving the room for a minute.

And it's been about four mornings now I find him scrunched up in one corner of his crib, so the crib bumper is on order! I love this crazy kid.

5 weeks!

Yesterday Whit was five weeks old and to celebrate he rolled over from his belly to back... three times!
